Your responsibilities

We are looking for an AI Operations Specialist to support us in managing and optimizing AI costs across projects, products, and platforms. This role combines hands-on analysis, stakeholder consulting, and governance to make the use of AI more transparent, efficient, and financially sustainable.

They work closely with developers, data scientists, AI users, platform teams, and finance to understand how AI services are used, where costs arise, and how usage can be improved. They analyze unusual consumption patterns, question inefficient setups, and support teams in making more informed decisions regarding model usage, infrastructure, and budgeting.

This role is suitable for people who like to combine technical details with financial implications and translate complex usage data into concrete, actionable measures.

  • Consulting for project, product and platform teams on the cost-conscious and sustainable use of AI services, models and infrastructure.
  • Granular tracking of AI costs, including API calls, token usage, model runs, and infrastructure consumption. Development and maintenance of reporting, dashboards, and forecasting models for AI workload growth, spend trends, and budget utilization.
  • Identification of cost-saving opportunities, for example through model right-sizing, improved caching strategies and more efficient usage patterns.
  • Monitoring of AI usage across native and third-party cloud cost management and observability platforms, including AWS, Azure and GCP.
  • Examination of unusual consumption patterns, investigation of root causes, and collaboration with developers and AI users to define corrective actions.
  • Support with planning, forecasting, and budgeting for AI initiatives, as well as aligning the teams' expected needs with available funding. Contribution to governance, standards, KPIs, and reporting for AI-related spend.
  • Function as an interface between data scientists, engineers, product teams and finance to translate operational AI challenges into clear financial requirements and decisions.
  • Promoting awareness of and application of FinOps best practices for AI within the organization.
  • Collaboration with existing FinOps Practitioners who are responsible for broader Infrastructure Cost Management, including Azure and on-premise environments.

Your profile

  • Two to three years of experience in Cloud Cost Management, Program Management, IT Financial Operations or a comparable role.
  • A good understanding of modern AI and ML ecosystems, including platforms such as AWS SageMaker, Bedrock, Azure AI Services, and Azure OpenAI. Experience with cost observability and monitoring tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret usage data, identify anomalies, and derive practical recommendations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, as well as the ability to translate technical consumption data into understandable financial narratives.
