Your tasks

Strategy implementation in the field of data and AI: You will contribute to the implementation of the cantonal data and AI strategy, specify strategic requirements into actionable measures, and help shape the requirements gathering and the development of the cantonal AI register.

Further development of data and AI governance: You will shape the further development of cantonal data and AI governance. In addition, you will be responsible for building data spaces and implementing them in the data catalog.

Management support and project coordination: You advise the management level in their committee work, lead projects in the field of data and AI, prepare reports and concepts and promote professional exchange within the administration.

Your profile

Experience: You enjoy working in a data- and technology-driven environment. You have experience in project management and conceptual work, as well as knowledge of AI or data governance. Experience in public administration is an advantage.

Personality: You are an open, motivated person with a strong interest in data and technology and enjoy taking on responsibility. Your quick comprehension and strong strategic thinking help you to master new challenges.

Education: You have a university degree at the Master's level and several years of experience in an environment relevant to this position.

Language: You communicate in flawless German, both spoken and written; knowledge of a second national language and English is a plus.

The Statistical Office is part of the Presidential Department and serves as the statistics and data competence center for the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Operating independently and according to scientific principles, it provides up-to-date statistical information and delivers reliable services to the public and government. By publishing open government data, it contributes to transparency in government actions. It shapes data management within the canton and advocates for efficient data flows and effective data governance.
The Data Competence Center at the Statistical Office is responsible for the use of artificial intelligence. Its remit also includes managing the office for open government data. The work of the Data Competence Center has a public impact. We publish the source code of our applications as open source on GitHub at https://github.com/DCC-BS.
