Statistical Office of the Canton of Zurich
Praktikum «KI + Machine Learning» 80 - 100%
At the Statistical Office, we are actively shaping the digital transformation of the Canton of Zurich – openly, transparently, and innovatively. We are happy to share our knowledge and embrace new technologies.
For those seeking professional experience, we are offering a 6-month internship with the option to extend to one year (80–100%) in our "Data" team, starting immediately or by arrangement.
You'll do this with us
- You will develop AI pilot projects that are socially relevant and technically exciting – for example, in the areas of intelligent knowledge management, AI assistance systems, and process automation. In doing so, you will use, among other things, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Generative AI, Large Language Models, AI agents, and semantic search.
- You analyze the challenges that exist in the cantonal administration and, together with experts from various fields, develop viable solutions with great benefits.
- You will accompany AI projects, from needs analysis and prototype development to implementation.
- You will be part of an interdisciplinary team that understands AI as a team sport, thinks across disciplinary boundaries, and values exchange and openness.
This is what you bring with you
- You are studying or have completed a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics or a related field.
- You have very good Python skills and sound experience with machine learning frameworks.
- You have already implemented your own ML projects, especially in the areas of NLP and Generative AI.
- You are interested in questions like
- Is AI even useful in this case?
- What do users really need?
- What data may be used and how.
- How do we verify that we have truly solved the problem?
We offer you this
- Practical: You will have the opportunity to develop AI projects in practice and deepen your professional skills.
- Innovative: You work with modern tools and methods on challenging projects.
- Team spirit: With us, you can expect a collegial environment and an open working atmosphere.
- Flexibility: We offer you a central workplace in the heart of Zurich and the option to work from home.
- Development: We support your personal and professional development.
- Meaningful: You make a valuable contribution to shaping society and for the common good.
