To strengthen our Group IT team, we are looking for a Junior Data Warehouse Engineer to support us in further developing our data platform and BI landscape and enabling data-driven decisions within the company.

Your workplace is our headquarters in the Ambassador House in Opfikon, with the option of also working partly from home.

You move that

• You are responsible for the further development, optimization and operation of our data warehouse and BI landscape based on modern Azure technologies.
• This includes the modeling and maintenance of fact and dimension tables (Star Schema) in Azure Synapse Analytics and Microsoft Fabric, including historization according to SCD Type 2.
• Your responsibilities also include integrating heterogeneous data sources, building complex datasets, and developing reports and dashboards in Microsoft Power BI. Furthermore, you will develop, automate, and monitor high-performance ELT pipelines, for example, using Azure Data Factory.
• In this role, you will work closely with the specialist departments, analyze business requirements within the framework of requirements engineering, and implement them in robust and sustainable data solutions.
• You promote self-service BI by coaching power users and supporting them with analyses and data preparation.

This is what you bring with you

• You have completed a degree in computer science, business informatics, industrial engineering or a comparable qualification and have 1-3 years of experience in the field of data warehousing, business intelligence or data engineering.
• You have very good knowledge of SQL and Python, especially Spark SQL / PySpark, and ideally have already worked with cloud-based data platforms (Microsoft Azure).
• You have practical experience with Azure Data Services, especially Azure Synapse Analytics, and ideally have gained initial experience with Microsoft Fabric.
• Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server technologies (e.g., SSRS reporting) is an advantage.
• You are familiar with agile working methods, integration technologies and DevOps practices, and you work analytically, in a structured and independent manner.
• You are team-oriented, have strong communication skills, are interested in data-driven business processes (ideally in the construction or real estate industry) and have very good German skills as well as good English skills.
