Intern in the Economic Data Science team ( 80% - 100%)
The Economic Data Science unit produces macroeconomic analyses and forecasts to inform monetary policy decisions. It also contributes to methodological innovations and the further development of data pipelines. We are offering two internships in an interdisciplinary team of economists and data scientists. Both positions are for a duration of 12 months. Start dates are July 1, 2026, and September 1, 2026, or by arrangement. The workplace is centrally located in Zurich.
Your contribution:
- Contributing to the development, provision and maintenance of data pipelines and analysis tools, particularly in the areas of Big Data, Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing;
- Supporting the team in creating forecasts;
- Participation in economic policy and research projects.
Your knowledge and interests:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree with a quantitative focus (e.g., Computer Science, Economics/Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, etc.);
- Solid programming skills in Python and experience with common libraries (including Pandas, NumPy), experience in R is an advantage;
- Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., Scikit-Learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow) as well as DevOps tools and practices (especially Git, Gitlab CI/CD) is an advantage;
- Strong interest in monetary policy issues, time series analysis and forecasting;
- High affinity for IT and motivation to learn new tools and technologies;
- Excellent knowledge of German or French as well as English.
