The City of Zurich Statistics Office is seeking an experienced, dedicated, and motivated individual to join its team in the Services department, starting immediately or by agreement.
Responsibilities
- They create standardized and customized statistical analyses and process data using current technologies. They publish data in a wide variety of formats – e.g., graphs, interactive applications (using Shiny), online articles, and open government data (OGD).
- They support the expansion of the technical infrastructure to improve data processing and publication processes (e.g. containerization, pipeline and automation development) and develop new possibilities for data analysis and publication together with external partners.
- They extract data from various sources (registry data, survey data, data from the city administration) and are responsible for creating and maintaining automated evaluation processes.
- Together with colleagues, they are responsible for various specialist areas and topics, such as housing, construction, and the economy. This involves intensive exchange with experts both within and outside the city administration.
- They acquire the necessary technical and professional knowledge themselves, as needed, in order to exploit new opportunities, and they also pass on the necessary knowledge to colleagues.
Profile
- Completed university degree with specialization or professional experience in Data Science or similar. You enjoy working on complex and demanding tasks and work very independently and in a dialogue-oriented manner within a larger team.
- Excellent practical knowledge of R. You have experience with containers and are accustomed to daily use of Git. Shell programming skills as well as other Linux and programming knowledge are advantageous (especially in Python or SAS).
- Strong knowledge in data preparation, data analysis, visualization, and the communication of data-based knowledge is essential. Basic statistical knowledge is mandatory.
- Enjoyment and willingness to delve deeply into socially relevant topics in order to be able to provide professional support for them.
- Excellent oral and written communication and expression skills in German
