Software Engineer (Junior/Professional/Senior) Start date: asap End date: one year duration Work place: Basel Workload: 100% Main tasks: Implement signal processing and data analysis pipelines for processing large amounts of sensor data collected in clinical trials according to best coding practice Modularize existing signal processing and data analysis pipelines to enable reuse of pipelines across clinical trials by a large team of scientists Documentation of code used in pipelines Design and development of innovative, modern and user-friendly scientific software solutions in close collaboration with research scientists Evaluation and technical assessment of 3rd party Chemistry software solutions based on given requirements Integration of system components (cloud based and on-premise) and workflows by utilizing existing API's or defining new interfaces where necessary Qualification and Experience: 2 - 8 years professional software development experience and/or 5+ years experience in designing complex and highly integrated software solutions Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related technical fields Deep knowledge of Python and preferably one or more of the following programming languages: Java, C/C++, R and Matlab Knowledge and hands-on experience with Big Data (e.g. Hadoop) and No-SQL (e.g. MongoDB) database concepts Work experience with the common Python data analysis stack (e.g. NumPy/SciPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, etc) Strong working knowledge of best coding practices (versioning, TDD, debugging) Experience in or eagerness to build ETL (extract, transform, load) data pipelines Familiar with the Atlassian suite (Confluence, Jira, BitBucket, Bamboo) Strong analytical skills combined with conceptual thinking and structured working style Ability to work in a multi-cultural team Fluent in English Familiarity with UNIX/Linux internals and workload management systems (SLURM, SGE or UGE) Project-based work experience in the pharmaceutical industry/consulting would be a major plus
