The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Italian Switzerland is offering a competition for a position as a Researcher with a specialization in software engineering for machine learning at the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence Studies (IDSIA) of the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI) based in Lugano. Occupancy level: 100%. Entry into service: 1 March 2024 or date to be agreed.
  • Supports other researchers in the development and implementation of applied and basic research projects.
  • Implement innovative Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms.
  • Analyzes data and produces reports using Data science techniques and methodologies.
  • Install and manage distributed computing environments.
  • Master's in data science, computer science, or similar, or equivalent work experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of programming and scripting languages ​​such as Python, Java, C++, R and Bash.
  • Knowledge of containerization and distributed computing technologies.
  • Excellent knowledge of machine learning and data science methods and algorithms.
  • Knowledge of microservices and web services architectures.
  • Ability to work both in groups and independently.
  • Good organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English and Italian.
  • In-depth knowledge of machine learning and data processing libraries such as Numpy, Pandas, Apache Spark, PyTorch, etc.
  • Knowledge of DevOps, MLOps and software engineering methodologies.
  • Experience with modern methods of NLP, Bioinformatics, Federated Learning or others.
  • Knowledge of a second national language.
  • Experience with modern NLP methods.
