Our “Data & Analytics” business line is responsible for providing technology platforms that promote the growth of our customers. The numerous exclusive projects differ in form, industry and company.

We are looking for a motivated Senior Big Data Engineer with experience in implementing complex distributed data platforms and applications to process large amounts of data. Ideally an experienced person who is well versed in big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, MPP and NoSQL databases, as well as cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS or Google).

Your tasks

As a senior big data engineer, you will work in several teams with data engineers, architects and scientists, among others, to build and operate state-of-the-art data analytics platforms. The role requires technical skills in big data ecosystems with a focus on open-source software and cloud infrastructure.

  • You will participate in several big data projects and act as a mentor for project team members and as a central contact point for our customers
  • You support the acquisition of new customer projects by preparing offers and holding customer presentations
  • You are co-responsible for the design, code and configuration of components that manage data ingestion, real-time streaming, batch processing, data extraction and transformation across multiple data sources and applications
  • You coach other team members in innovative technologies
  • You will interact with engineering teams across projects and ensure that your solutions meet customer requirements in terms of functionality, performance, availability, scalability, security and reliability
  • You work with business analysts and data scientists to understand and implement their use cases

your profile
  • Technical university degree ETH/UNI/FH
  • 3+ years of implementation skills with big data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Hadoop or Delta Lake
  • 3+ years of experience deploying and automating cloud solutions using Azure, GCP, AWS, Kubernetes or Terraform
  • Know-how in SQL- und NoSQL-Datenbanken, z.B. PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Databricks oder MS SQL Server
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the entire development cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing and operations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including working collaboratively
  • Fluent in German and English
