Your mission:
Smart Factory
Planted is a technology leader in the fast-growing plant-based meat market. To maintain this leadership position and continue to provide the best taste and texture to customers, planted needs to continuously invent new and better products in the lab and scale those products. We believe that gaining data-driven insights into our manufacturing processes by connecting our machines to the cloud enables us to scale new products faster
We are looking for someone who works side by side with food scientists and process engineers to tackle their challenges by building data products (SQL, python, IoT sensors, AWS).
Gen AI
Planted believes that Gen AI will make people significantly more productive on a variety of tasks. This holds the chance of baking Gen AI into these processes from the start. As a young and growing company, planted has the chance to bake gen ai into its processes from the start
We are looking for someone who can break down this huge space of potential opportunities, priotize what planted needs and also bring data products around Gen AI to live (either by buying the right product and/or developing it yourself).
- Build data products based on IoT data to improve Planted’s leading food processing technology further.
- Further development of Gen AI-based products to enable next-level efficiency in our internal processes.
- Drive the usage of cameras and computer vision across our production processes.
- Working with organizational stakeholders to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions, scope products, and accompany launched products.
You:
- Have a BSc/BA in computer science or another quantitative field; a graduate degree in data science or in a related field is a plus.
- Have 2+ years of experience in Data Science/Software Engineering.
- Are experienced with writing code in a professional environment.
- Have experience in working with Python and SQL and experience with computer vision is a plus.
- Are a strong problem-solver with a focus on business development & solutions.
- Possess knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, time series analysis, etc.) and their advantages and disadvantages in practice.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-team coordination in English and German.
- Bring the willingness to learn and master new technologies and techniques.

Planted produces delicious meat from alternative proteins, focusing on the perfect bite. The Zurich-based foodtech spin-off from the Swiss Technical Institute of Technology (ETH) was founded in 2019 and was quick to build intellectual property around their biostructuring approach. Among other international awards, Planted ranked first at the TOP 100 Swiss Start-up Awards in 2021. Planted produces all its products under a glass-house production facility in Kemptthal, Switzerland - the first transparent meat production open to the public. Planted is available at restaurants and retailers across Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Italy and most recently, the UK as well as over its own Europewide webshop. The Planted product ranges, each consisting of different protein sources (peas, oat, sunflowers), currently include planted.™chicken, planted.™pulled, planted.™kebab and planted.™schnitzel. In addition, there are various limited editions in close collaboration with star chefs such as Tim Raue or Nenad Mlinarevic.
