The Team:
Deep Learning Backend– Advanced Vision Technology
This position is for a Software & Cloud Engineer in the AI R&D group in the Advanced Vision Technology organization. As an engineer on this team, you will join a young and dynamic team that loves cutting edge technology and is ready to accept challenges in other stimulating activities like Mario Kart or table tennis.
The Role:
This group is seeking engineers with a passion for cloud technologies and software engineering to develop the next generation of Cognex’s image processing software.
Essential Functions:
  • Architect, design, and implement complex hub and spoke topologies supporting our SaaS application
  • Automate deployment via infrastructure as code (Terraform)
  • Design and implement backend micro-services in Python
  • Perform security reviews and implement security best practices
  • Deploy efficient monitoring solutions
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have:
  • Cloud computing and system engineering
  • Software development
  • Experience with one of the major cloud providers (Azure, AWS or GCP)
Nice to have:
  • Infrastructure as code (IaC, Terraform, Ansible, …)
  • Kubernetes
  • Networking
  • Web application security (e.g., SAST, DAST, security audits, etc.)
  • Python
  • Image processing
  • Design and development of microservices and serverless application
  • Architecture and development of highly available and scalable app
  • Deployment of cloud-based machine learning application
  • PostgreSQL
  • Service mesh
  • DevOps practices including CI/CD, Git
  • Delivery of product through AWS / Azure marketplace
  • Fluent in English or French with professional English
Minimum education and work experience required:
  • Bachelor / Master in Computer Science or other relevant engineering degrees
  • Industry experience in cloud engineering and software development
