Data Engineer (80% - 100%)

Your task is demanding and varied.

At the interface between business and IT, as a data engineer you are responsible for data preparation and modeling for our reporting and BI landscape.
Control instruments such as Balanced Scorecard (BSC), quality and risk management serve to continuously review and evaluate SVA Zurich's products and processes. In the corporate development data team, you will support the establishment and further development of scalable data pipelines that extract, transform and make data available from various source systems for reporting and BI. You will also lead and support innovative data projects.
Your focus is on the topics of data pipelining, data warehousing and data preparation. You have experience in analyzing, designing and implementing data models as well as in developing reports and dashboards. This includes developing and implementing data models from powerful production databases. Since our data landscape is under construction, you are also responsible for testing and selecting an appropriate BI stack. Your responsibility goes end-to-end, from the data source to the dashboard. You will enjoy developing, expanding and maintaining functional and technical components in the area of ​​DWH/BI just as much as data orchestration and ETL processes.

You convince us with your skills.

For us, it is crucial that you have a good understanding of BI issues, think in a solution-oriented manner and are innovative. You have a university degree with a quantitative focus and have experience in orchestrating data pipelines (e.g. Airflow). Your knowledge of Python and/or R is sound and you are familiar with common version management tools (git, github, gitlab). CICD skills are a plus.
Your database knowledge goes beyond developing SQL queries. You are familiar with OLTP and OLAP technologies. When you hear the term data warehouse, you don't immediately think of a warehouse. Experience with topics such as noSQL, cloud and ML as well as experience with data-relevant services from a hyperscaler are a plus. Basic knowledge of BI tools rounds off your profile.
You have a quick comprehension, are solution-oriented, willing to change and deal constructively with complex problems. You like to take responsibility, think in a network and work independently. At the same time, you are a team player with high empathic abilities. You have a strong can-do personality and always keep the overarching goal in mind. You can work very independently and have a solid understanding of IT (e.g. networks). You are open to new things, easy to deal with and able to take criticism.
