We are a collaborative team of data architects, data engineers, and business intelligence specialists. Our purpose is to provide internal colleagues with the data they need to make decisions that drive u-blox’s success. The data these colleagues need comes from many different sources, with many different formats, sizes, and frequencies.
As an integral player in this team, you will concentrate on ingesting data from several sources and preparing it for optimal storage, querying, and analysis on our data platform in AWS. The variety and the volume of data sources will be your greatest challenges. As you master these challenges, you will make a visible contribution to the organization.
The role is in our headquarters in Thalwil (Zurich).
Your Responsibilities
- Deliver scalable ingestion processes to capture data from many different data sources.
- Script data transformations and orchestrate data processing pipelines in AWS.
- Identify, resolve and prevent data quality issues in collaboration with test/production engineers and identify optimization potentials and implement them.
- Support internal customers in data consistency-related issues.
- Monitor, maintain and optimize ingestions, transformations and pipelines.
- Stay updated with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends in Data and Analytics and related domains, and proactively identify opportunities for system enhancements.
Your Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering (applied science or similar) or proven experience in a similar position.
- Proven experience delivering solutions on AWS, and working with different AWS/cloud native technologies like S3, Redshift, DynamoDB, Athena, EMR, RDS, EC2, Lambda, Step function, and cloud formation templates.
- Proven experience transforming data with Spark and Python.
- Experience in relational database design, implementation, and tuning (SQL).
- Knowledge of Data modeling and information classification.
- Self-driven and proactive mindset, with good communication skills (fluent English) and the ability to identify opportunities for process improvements, and propose innovative solutions.
Bonus Point
- Previous experience in the IoT/semiconductor manufacturing world is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD and DevOps in a software engineering team.
- Proven experience with Cloud Data platforms like Databricks and Snowflake.
- Knowledge of NoSQL database and big data technologies.
- Good experience using Power BI or Tableau with the AWS Cloud, or experience with Amazon Quicksight.
- Certifications in AWS Data (AWS Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Big Data Specialty, AWS AI/ML Specialty).
