Job Description
Are you an experienced Data Scientist with a good knowledge of statistical analysis and a passion for helping researchers tackle different and challenging problems? Join the Research & Innovation IT team in the University of Sheffield’s IT Services department.
As a Data Scientist within Research & Innovation IT, you'll be at the forefront of supporting ground-breaking research that addresses global challenges and changes lives. You'll be closely involved in a wide variety of research projects across the University supporting researchers doing groundbreaking work and shaping the services that we offer.
You'll be part of a vibrant, diverse and close knit team of talented scientists, analysts and engineers embedded in research projects, devising and delivering training and providing ad hoc support. You will build relationships with researchers and research project leads allowing you to give them the best advice and guidance on everything from tools and techniques to approaches to using data science in research.
You will have experience of using a variety of techniques, tools and software packages in academic research and have the necessary confidence in your abilities to pass your skills and knowledge on to others. You will have the ability to recognise the capabilities of others so you can help everyone from a new post-graduate to a seasoned professor.
