The Data Team is supporting the NZZ in being a data-driven organization. As an Analytics Center of Competence our job is to provide everyone in our company with the necessary tools and knowledge to arrive at better and more informed decisions, contributing to the digital transformation. In close cooperation with our product management, marketing and editorial teams, we build «smart» data products (such as article recommendations) to support internal and customer facing use-cases. We are a highly motivated and skilled team of data professionals (data analysts, digital analysts, data scientists, data engineers) working based on agile development methods and living the principles of an innovation culture, testing and advancing new ideas iteratively.
We are looking for an engaged and winning personality as:
(Senior) Data Engineer (f/m) 80-100%
Your tasks:
- Design and implementation of productive data pipelines for our data products (e.g., article recommendations, personalized customer journeys, NLP data products) or ELT pipelines
- Maintain, optimize and further development our data pipelines and data platform together with other data engineers
- Close collaboration with data analysts and data scientists to build and extend our data warehouse/lakehouse (Snowflake) and data products
- Monitoring, support and bug-fixing for productive data pipelines and data products
Your profile:
- Higher education degree (ETH/UNI/FH) in Computer Science
- 2 to 5 years of work experience in a similar role
- Strong software engineering knowledge (with hands-on experience, clean code) and experience with Java 11+ (Spring Framework), Scala (ideally with Spark) and Python 3.x (Pandas, Celery)
- Practical experience with big data concepts and frameworks (Apache Spark) and data bases (SQL, NoSQL, Snowflake)
- Knowledge about Kubernetes, Airflow, (Google) cloud platforms
- Basic knowledge about HTML/css/javascript is a plus
