Context
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) responds to worldwide humanitarian needs through its global network of delegations. The ICRC is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance.
The Resource Mobilization Division (REM) is in charge of coordinating mobilization efforts across the institution to engage with multiple stakeholders ranging from donor governments, multilateral institutions, National Societies, the private sector including corporates, foundations, HNWI, UHNWI and the general public to maintain a sustainable stream of quality income for ICRC’s humanitarian operations worldwide. REM is one of the three divisions reporting to the department of Mobilisation, Movement and Partnerships department.
Within the REM division, the IDC Unit is in charge of income coordination, data management and Donor Care!
Within IDC, the Data Team, composed of 5 team members, is the REM Division’s central hub for data-driven and impactful insights and recommendations, responsible for driving data usage and literacy. We believe in the democratisation of data and advocate a fact-based business approach. We are constantly looking for ways to improve the way we fundraise, combining analysis of internal and external data with the division’s extensive fundraising know-how.
Purpose of the position
The position holder understands the data & analytical needs of REM and delivers data-driven insights and tools, thereby driving data literacy of the REM division. Within their scope, they translate insights into practical recommendations and present these insights to collaborators to enable fact-based decision-making. Working with REM and ICT colleagues, they develop and maintain reporting tools and dashboards and actively support the Data Team. They also provide functional marketing support to the private sector engagement (PSE) fundraising teams.
Relationships
Internally, interacts with all departments, units and project teams to deliver impactful data-driven insights. This includes the REM Data quality manager, IDC colleagues, REM and MMP colleagues as well ICT teams responsible for Data & Analytics support.
Externally, interacts with external data providers and marketing vendors.

Main duties and responsibilities part one
With the lead of the Senior Data & Analytics Manager and in coordination with the assigned REM Units, they enable fact-based decision-making by delivering impactful data-driven insights. They advocate a customer-focused approach to fundraising concentrated on donor-centricity and business processes.
With and across the REM division:
Promotes the use of data-driven insights to improve fundraising effectiveness and efficiency
Assists Heads of Units and Relationship Managers in reflecting on their fundraising performance and provides concrete recommendations based on data to improve it
Coordinates the production of reports, dashboards and insights from business requirements gathering, design and delivery
Maintains and updates existing reports and dashboards
Ensures compliance with established internal and external needs and regulations.
Within REM IDC:
Works closely with IDC Donor Care colleagues to streamline updates to Donor data through data automation, including updates to process documentation
Works closely with the REM Data Quality Manager so that DQ reporting is developed and maintained
Works closely with the other Data and Analytics Managers to ensure that the standard processes in reporting and operational fundraising are enhanced, documented, and adopted.
Main duties and responsibilities part two
With REM PSE markets and PSE Centre of Expertise:
Makes suggestions on the creation of donor segmentation based on donation patterns, demographics, macro-economic and fundraising trends
Suggests and delivers the selection criteria for fundraising campaigns
Promotes the use of A/B tests in fundraising campaigns to understand donor preferences and hence increase fundraising levels
Creates and delivers the output files for third party (printers, telemarketing agencies) for fundraising campaigns
Works closely with the PSE Digital team to design and deliver the donor development programme.
With ICT:
Contributes to the development of the data model and usage of the referential data that supports analysis
Actively seeks new sources of internal and external data and works closely with the ICT team to bring these into the institutional Datawarehouse.
People management responsibilities

Certifications / Education required
University degree/similar degree in IT
Excellent command of English. Knowledge of French and German is an asset
Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office suite or similar)
Proven understanding of BI tools (Tableau)
Proficient understanding of SQL syntax and relational databases
Programming language (R or python an asset)
Knowledge of statistics applied to business (A/B tests, experiment design) is an advantage
Knowledge of ETL processes is a plus
Professional Experience required
Typically 6 – 9 years’ overall professional experience
Confirmed experience in a similar field (4 years), including 2 years in large international organizations
Ability to efficiently work on multiple tasks and prioritize among objectives and project results
