The Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology METAS is the federal competence center for measuring. We are responsible for providing the internationally recognized units for business, research and the public sector in Switzerland. METAS relies on the most modern infrastructure and methods and relies on internationally recognized quality standards.
A wealth of measurement data is generated in metrological research and services. On the one hand, this data must be analyzed using the best possible methods. The application of data science therefore also represents a great opportunity for metrology. On the other hand, the data must be treated according to the FAIR principles and made available to customers in digitized form as part of metrological services.

your new challenge

  • Development of novel, data-driven metrological services for measuring instruments or sensor networks
  • Creation of new tools based on artificial intelligence (AI) for the development of new measurement and data analysis methods
  • Design and implementation of the research data management specifications in METAS
  • Development of quality-based metrics to measure the efficiency and trustworthiness of AI modules
  • Interdisciplinary cooperation with the specialist laboratories of METAS and with partner institutes worldwide

your profile

  • Master's or equivalent education as a data scientist, mathematician, natural scientist, computer scientist or engineer with experience in data science and research data management
  • Hands-on experience with database and programming languages ​​(e.g. Python, JavaScript) and code versioning (Git) as well as the application of AI
  • You have a strong can-do attitude and are considered pragmatic, driven
  • Interest in interdisciplinary issues and collaboration
  • Analytical thinking, independent way of working
  • High flexibility, creativity, curiosity
  • Clear, addressee-oriented written and oral communication skills in German or French, with a good knowledge of the other language, as well as English
