The Role: S&P Global Sustainable1, the single source of essential sustainability intelligence, is seeking a Data Analyst to join our ESG Research team. The role will give direct contact with the raw sustainability data collected in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment and with the scoring methodology.
The ESG Data Analyst will be responsible for producing high quality score deliveries and will have a central role in developing new methodologies. The successful candidate will also collaborate in creating and maintaining data (imputation) models.

Key Responsibilities:
Calculate and distribute the proprietary ESG Scores in a professional and timely manner.
Perform ESG data analysis and clearly communicate it to internal stakeholders and to external clients, both verbally and in writing, by generating graphical data representations.
Develop innovative ESG Scoring methodologies in Microsoft Excel or Python
Work collaboratively with a diverse team across multiple locations to promote modelling best-practice and ensure quality of deliverables.
Essential Requirements:
Strong technical expertise in Microsoft Excel (and preferably VBA).
Good programming skills in Python, R (or similar)
Minimum of two years’ professional experience working with large, complex datasets to support business and investment decision-making, incl. demonstrated ability in data quality control, source documentation, and synthesis of complex technical data to develop meaningful insights for clients.
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in science, economics, engineering, mathematics, or similar quantitative discipline.
Minimum of A-level or equivalent in mathematics.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, incl. confidently presenting complex information to clients & other key stakeholders in ways that they can easily understand and inform their actions.
Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, with a positive, “can do” attitude.
The candidate should be conscious of detail and numerically proficient, with natural curiosity and an innovative approach to problem solving.
Personable, with a demonstrated strength in planning and executing work assignments to tight deadlines, independently and as part of a diverse international team.
Fluent written and spoken English (additional languages will be looked upon favorably).
Good awareness of S&P Global’s traditional business, and a view on how to integrate ESG into future product development.
Preferred Experience:
Technical experience in one or more of the following areas is highly favorably:
Strong programming skills in Python, with extensive experience in Pandas module for data analysis and data science.
Familiarity with probability theory and statistics and experience in applying those to large datasets
