About this opportunity

As Director, Data & Analytics EMEA at Align Technology, you will be part of the EMEA Commercial Excellence Leadership team. You will be part of a EMEA Business Transformation Leadership Team with a 5-10 year horizon transforming how Align innovates, translate strategy to execution, and how we make strategic investment choices. You will be managing a team of direct and indirect Data Analysts and Data Scientists located across the region.
In this role, you will…

  • Lead the EMEA Data & Analytics team, spread over 3 locations.
    • Define team strategy, structure and ways of working in an ever-evolving environment.
    • Of the 14 analysts, 5 will report directly to you.
    • The team has an agile setup and serves all commercial functions in the business – 5 sales channels, 5 professional marketing channels, consumer marketing, commercial marketing and commercial excellence.
    • The actual work is balanced between engineering (10%), reporting (20%), analysis and consultancy (40%) and advanced analytics (30%).
  • Further develop the Align EMEA data & analytics vision and act as thought leader on fact-based working at senior stakeholder level. This means to:
    • develop relationships with the executive leadership team and translate their needs into future projects;
    • evangelize the benefits of the data-driven approach at key meetings;
    • consolidate this vision with peers in Global Analytics;
    • constantly strive for a better, smarter supply of actionable insights from data to business leaders.
  • Act as lead on key projects with high visibility and/or complexity.
  • Advance the implementation of commercial excellence as member of the Commercial Excellence leadership team.
  • Key strategic items for 2022 and beyond:
    • Continued adoption of data-driven approach in day-to-day across all layers of the organization – from SVP to Sales Rep
    • Advanced Analytics roll-out: Next Best Action, forecasting, recommendations, market mix modeling
    • Roll out of consistent KPI framework, that ties strategy to operations and facilitates the performance dialogue.

In this role, you’ll need …

  • 10 + years of relevant experience, including people management skills - minimum of 5 years in a people leadership role, preferably a sizable team in a complex corporate organization.
  • Management consultancy skills, with recent experience in data consultancy at C-suite level preferred – Ability to make analytics relevant for the business, effectively interact with all levels of the organization, and present business and technical issues, ideas, and recommendations in verbal, written, and presentation formats
  • An entrepreneur and start-up mindset to influence key stakeholders to bring data culture to the next level. Inject data as a commercial asset into the strategic investment choices and integrate data science and advanced analytics into commercial decision making process.
  • Data & analytics domain knowledge – a thorough understanding of the benefits and limitations of the tools and approaches in the modern analytical toolbox
  • Technical knowledge – excellent grasp on contemporary enterprise Business Intelligence and CRM tools, preferably Power BI and Salesforce.
  • Curious & analytical – you must be able to ask the right questions, leverage critical thinking based on facts, and solve problems based on a thorough understanding of the business.
