Senior Event Manager - Applied Machine Learning Days

Your mission :
The Applied Machine Learning Days is a global platform and network for AI & machine learning. Each year, the main AMLD event is held on EPFL Campus at the Swiss Tech Conference Center. The next edition of the event will be a 5-day event happening physically from March 26th to 30th, 2022.

AMLD EPFL is one of the largest machine learning & AI events in Europe, focused specifically on the applications of machine learning and AI, making it particularly interesting to industry and academia.

The first two days are usually focussed on ‘hands-on’ sessions, with workshops, trainings, coding classes and tutorials. The main conference is happening the following three days, featuring keynotes, top-level speakers, domain specific tracks (parallel smaller conferences), poster sessions, startup showcases & industry exhibitions.

For AMLD EPFL 2022, more than 1000 unique participants are expected, with the participation of 250+ speakers within 25+ domain-specific tracks, the presence of 30+ exhibitors and 30+ workshops proposed during the weekend.

In order to prepare for this event, we are looking for a highly organized and efficient Senior Event Manager to closely work with our Event Manager. While the event will take place on EPFL campus, the job location will be at Campus Biotech in Geneva, where the Digital Epidemiology Lab, the organizational unit responsible for the event, is located.

Main duties and responsibilities include :

  • Organizing and managing all the necessary tasks required to prepare, operate and run successful events (including: budgeting, fundraising, accounting, sales, operations & logistics, etc)
  • Develop the event program together with the organizing committee and external partners
  • Responsible for overall branding, online presence, website, live-stream production, communication and marketing
  • Available as the main contact person for the event to the outside world
  • Managing the partner relationships, in particular with sponsors, media, suppliers, technicians, venues, etc.
  • Help grow the AMLD brand (international expansion & development)

Your profile :

  • You’ve got at least 5 years’ experience in organizing and leading events.
  • You like things to run smoothly – with strong organizational and time management skills, believing every organizational problem is solvable
  • You’re responsible, resilient, proactive and adaptable – used to work under tight deadlines without losing attention to detail
  • You’re open minded, respectful and a great listener – believing that the best way to build a lasting relationship is by treating others as you'd want to be treated
  • You have a high-level of computer proficiency including: MS Office / Google Drive Suite, Adobe Suite & website tools some basic HTML coding skills
  • You’re fluent in English and French, German a plus
  • Ideally: knowledge, familiarity or interest in computing, engineering, science and technology.
