Test engineer

Your mission :
The PTMH, Technology Platform for Hydraulic Machines, provides independent scientific services to the industry and participates in innovative research projects in the field of new energies, including hydraulics. These services mainly consist in experimental testing of reduced scale models of large hydraulic machines. Such testing activities are performed with a unique experimental facility of three test rigs. In addition, major upgrades and adaptations are under construction on two of the platforms to test Pelton turbines and carry out hybridization tests. Maintenance and upgrading of facilities must be permanent to ensure the quality of the measurement results, which are often the subject of contractual clauses.

Main duties and responsibilities include :
Refereeing to the head of the testing team, your main tasks consist in:

  • Perform model testing activities, including preparation and performance of tests and results analysis and reporting;
  • Implement the maintenance and the continuous upgrade of the experimental facility in collaboration with the technical staff of the PTMH;
  • Coordinate the logistics of the test projects with the client, and particularly the reception and the shipping of the tested models;
  • Coordinate the installation and the decommissioning of the tested models with the PTMH’s design office and technical staff;
  • Participate in the commissioning and operation of a new test stand for Pelton turbines;
  • Perfom expertise abroad in the facility of partner companies or on site.

Your profile :

  • Engineer EPF, HES or equivalent with skills and knowledge in mechanical, hydraulic and electrical engineering;
  • Curiosity and ability for the design and development of innovative instrumentation to meet specific measurement needs;
  • Knowledge of electrotechnics (wiring, soldering, connections, etc.) an asset;
  • Knowledge of National Instruments’ systems and of LabVIEW software is a plus, but need for specific training might be considered;
  • Development skills in Python, Latex and VBA MATLAB an asset;
  • French and English language are required, other languages such as German, Spanish, Portuguese or Mandarin are an asset.
