Postdoctoral Position in Applied cryptography in the Security and Privacy engineering Laboratory

Your mission :
We have a postdoc opening at the SPRING Lab @EPFL (https://spring.epfl.ch/) led by Prof. Carmela Troncoso (http://carmelatroncoso.com).We are looking for a postdoc with experience in applied cryptography to work on our privacy engineering projects. In these projects we create new privacy-preserving primitives and evaluate them. We aim to integrate these primitives into end-to-end systems. We often collaborate with stakeholders such as NGOs, governments, or educational institutions that place high value in protecting their users. The postdoc’s contribution to the research efforts of the group will involve interacting with PhD and undergraduate students, senior researchers, other EPFL labs, and external partners (from industry, academia, and NGOs). Participation in teaching and outreach activities is possible.Your profile :
We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A strong background in security, privacy, or applied cryptography (with an orientation towards privacy)
  • Some background in statistics and networking. A background in machine learning would be an asset
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python or Rust) and software engineering practices


The candidate must have a PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Communication Systems, Computer Engineering, or a similar area with a strong publication track record in information security and privacy.
