Job Description

For our Product Development group we are looking for a Scientist Viral Vector Process (m|f|d) based in Ulm (Sartorius Stedim Cellca GmbH). In this new role you will work in a matrix environment as a member of a highly dynamic team to develop new cell line technologies for the production of viral vectors.

What you will accomplish together with us

  • You provide general scientific expertise about vector design, generation and production to the team

  • Characterization as well molecular engineering for optimization of recombinant AAV vectors and packaging cell lines (e.g. HEK) will be part of your field of work

  • You will establish and optimize processes for the production of various rAAV vectors in small-scale

  • You plan and execute defined work packages and act as supervisor/ trainer for students and lab technicians

  • You will network within Sartorius group and external academic or industrial teams to ensure optimal project progress

  • The creation and presentation of development data is just as much a part of your area of responsibility as the continuous knowledge building in the rAAV field

What will convince us

  • PhD in biology, virology, biochemistry or biotechnology with a strong molecular virology/biology expertise or alternatively a master´s degree in a related field with long-term professional experience

  • You have several years of substantial hands-on experience in AAV vector design, generation or production

  • You have a strong background in culture of HEK and Vero cells in suspension and ideally a good understanding of process development and optimization for viral vectors

  • You have profound knowledge in vector quantification methods (qPCR, ELISA) and other assays for vector characterization

  • Your experience includes design of expression cassettes and ideally working with engineered capsids

  • You have strong communication skills to operate in an intercultural and dynamic environment

  • You are a good team player with high level of self-motivation and goal orientation

  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills in English; and German would be an asset
