HPC Software Engineer (W/M)

Your mission :
The SCITAS platform provides EPFL researchers and partners with access to infrastructure and expertise in High Performance Computing (HPC). SCITAS also contributes to research and development activities so as to maintain the EPFL's reputation as a leading research facility.
In order to strengthen our team, we are seeking an HPC Software Engineer. In this role you will support the implementation and maintenance of our software build, test and deployment framework to support EPFL’s researchers with efficient and customer-oriented HPC software engineering.Main duties and responsibilities include :

  • Setup and maintain the HPC software stack on our clusters
  • Engineering, building and maintaining our software life cycle services, continuous integration and delivery
  • HPC application support and optimization
  • Support and training for the user community

Your profile :
Applicants must have

  • Master in Computer/Computational Science
  • Experience with package managers, such as Spack (ideally) or Easybuild, in an HPC environment at maintainer level
  • Demonstrated experience with application lifecycle management : Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
  • Soft skills: team work, creativity, initiative, constant learner

Applicants should have

  • Experience with unit, functional and regression testing
  • Experience with performance profiling tools
  • Demonstrated experience in an academic environment
  • Working knowledge of Python and C/C++ or Fortran
  • Working knowledge of build systems: autotools, cmake, etc.
  • Experience with container technology in an HPC environment: Docker, Shifter, Singularity or similar
  • French and English at working level
