Job Description
Emphasis will be on model-based analysis of ecological and environmental data from aquatic systems of lab-to field-scale for extracting knowledge and supporting ecosystem management. The goal is to establish a research group to facilitate an iterative learning process involving experiments, observations and model-based data analysis in close collaboration with experimentalists from different disciplines. Of particular interest is the consideration of uncertainty in research and application to management, by using stochastic models and quantitative statistical inference techniques.
The candidate should have
- a PhD degree in natural sciences or mathematics
- experience in model-based analysis of ecological or evolutionary data
- a background in mathematics, statistics underlying ecological modelling and statistical inference indicated by respective publications
- experience in scientific model implementation
- interest in collaboration with aquatic ecologists in modelling and interpreting their data
- interest in model applications to support environmental management in collaboration with stakeholders
- communication and social interaction skills to work in inter- and transdisciplinary research teams
