The Process Technology Group in Münchwilen develops manufacturing processes for our new Active Ingredients. Within this group, the Process Analytical Technologies (PAT) team supports the activities from lab to pilot scale with suitable process analytics and coordinates PAT activities in development and manufacturing globally. The position provides proactively business benefit, through scientific and technical innovation and analysis in areas of PAT and Chemometrics and will enable scientific and technical leadership.

Accountabilities

  • Supports PTAI Process Analytics in delivering benefits for AI/formulation development and manufacturing by providing learnings and insights from data analysis
  • Contributing to the development and production of chemicals and formulations with control methods or strategies to safer, more robust, and sustainable processes
  • Bring forward new or novel ideas for on-line control and analysis of chemical processes by using process data.
  • Provide technical leadership through internal or external networks, continuous personal development and by defining ways of working in his field.
  • Provide scientific and technical consultancy and mathematical support to global Process Technology in PAT and Chemometrics
  • Provide a key mentoring role in Chemometrics to individual scientists and project teams
  • Collaborate with internal Syngenta functions on a global basis and may be within external global collaborations (CROs, academics)
  • Ensure compliance of HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment & Quality) to Syngenta standards, encourage and propagate best practice

Qualifications

A PhD in the field of Chemometrics and /or Process Analytics. A Master’s degree with relevant experience in a previous job is also acceptable

  • Deep understanding of practical applications of PAT
  • Experience in programming languages (R, Python) are a plus
  • Fluent English and German, French is a plus
  • Clear and effective communication as well as collaboration skills
  • Ability to think strategically and influence by simplifying and visualizing complex information and data
