The Division of Clinical Bacteriology and Mycolog y is currently seeking a

Clinical Bioinformatician in Microbial Genomics 100 %
This position is financed by third parties

Responsibilities:

• Bioinformatic analysis and interpretation of routine microbial whole genome sequencing data: comparative genomics, antibiotic resistance determination, microbiome and metagenomics
• Research and development focusing on novel diagnostics for clinical microbiology
• Interacting with varied groups on scientific and routine diagnostic projects
• Supporting (scientific) projects and studies with a focus on bioinformatics
• Supporting the quality management system, in particular for the NGS application
• Supervision of Bachelor, Master and PhD students within specific projects

Your profile:

• PhD in a relevant subject with 2-3 years of work experience
• Demonstrated ability to perform bioinformatic analyses, in particular in microbial genomics and metagenomics
• Familiar with bioinformatics software tools such as Ridom SeqSphere, CLC Genomics Workbench, Unix environment
• Deep understanding of microbial evolution and mechanisms
• Experience with Illumina and long read data
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently
• Fluent written and spoken German and English
• Enjoy working as part of a team, including other bioinformaticians, clinical microbiologists, infectious disease clinicians and technicians
