Job Description

The domains that define the Internet are powered by Verisign!

The Company:

Verisign operates the Domain Name System (DNS) root and powers the hugely-significant .COM domain enabling the world’s 4.5 billion Internet users to connect online with reliability and confidence, anytime, anywhere. Our global servers process millions of DNS queries every second. Because these services underpin the online connectivity of the Internet, our products must be absolutely correct and remain available – even during the most extreme Internet spike load events.

The Team:

Our team is dedicated to bringing best development practices across the organization. We are focused on applying best engineering principles and practices alongside mission-critical product teams within the company. The team helps product teams evolve software development practices with a goal of expanding the adoption of rigorous engineering practices to develop modular code designs that are maintainable with comprehensive testing. You will participate in software design, development, and code reviews and evolve the ability for teams to adopt Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).

The Person:

  • We’re looking for a mid-level software engineer who:
  • Has a passion for clean code and is committed to continuously learning and effectively applying engineering best practices
  • Is a true craftsman, who enjoys breaking down tough problems
  • Works well with a team to deliver valuable solutions
  • Is committed to writing automated tests during development, including unit, integration and e2e testing
  • Has a passion for enabling others to adopt new technologies
  • Enjoys working in a collaborative team environment
  • Regularly seeks and incorporates feedback into future work

The Benefits and Culture:

  • Work on the high-scale systems that provide key Internet services
  • Strong Verisign technical community with constant opportunities to learn via tech talks and other internal events
  • Training and education opportunities such as Verisign University and tuition reimbursement for work-related degrees
  • Positive multi-cultural collaboration spirit within and across teams
  • Engineering ownership of a product used by millions
  • Strong influence over the product and team direction
  • Competitive compensation package
  • Paid health insurance

The Location:

Fribourg is a historic city in Switzerland with one of the largest medieval towns preserved in Europe. Multiple languages and cultures intermix here, the city has a bilingual status, symbolically bridging Latin and Germanic cultures.

Fribourg enjoys a convenient central location with Bern and Lausanne in a commute distance reachable by a direct train or highway. Direct trains to three cities with international airports, namely Geneva, Zurich, and Basel are available for those who enjoy travel. The Verisign office is located in Villars-sur-Glâne, next to the A12 highway exit, ten minutes from the Fribourg train station. The environment in Fribourg inspires a quality active lifestyle, with nature all around the city. A few spots to explore are the Fribourg Prealps with its ski slopes, hike and bike trails, and Lake of Gruyere with its refreshing lakefront paths.
