Job Description

The Head of Content Excellence & Operations role build and lead the Regional Content Excellence and Operations function. The function will drive innovation both in agility, speed, relevance of how content is being made available and used by key internal customers. The Head of Content Excellence & Operations will work in close collaboration with both core Content development functions, Review Functions and Content Consuming functions and drive the strategic direction for this areas in close collaboration with key stakeholders. The core activities are:

1. Agency Collaboration:

  • Manage oversight of creative, translation, localization and other relevant agencies
  • Establish metrics and alignment, related performance monitoring and management
  • Guide creation and localization planning
  • Guide agency SOW standards and monitor, establish and guide on best practices
  • Strategic partner for agency sourcing and scope

2. Content Management Platform:

  • Regional Business Owner Veeva Vault
  • Development of commercial content processes and platform, including documentation and training
  • Establish tracking metrics and reviewing data to generate insights
  • Strategic, tactical planning, organize and oversee cross regional and functional governance
  • Planning of regional platform development priorities
  • Drive the pursuit of commercial and cross-functional excellence through identification of continuous improvement opportunities

3. Digital Asset Management (“DAM”) Operations:

  • Establish and govern Biogen repository standards, including standards for efficient content re-use
  • Documentation of DAM platform capabilities, standards and processes
  • Establish repository tracking metrics and monitor performance
  • Partner with GBS Librarian service to plan and drive execution of library migration, cleansing and maintenance
  • Train and coach GBS Librarians

4. Capability implementations:

  • Partners to proactively identify, prioritize, facilitate, and lead projects which drive continuous improvement
  • Lead multiple/complex implementations, project and sponsor meetings,
  • Management of budget for one or several projects or programs
  • Recommend and implement methods to demonstrate and sustain improvements through metric and control monitoring
  • Prepare communications for all project stakeholders and teams
  • Create Change Management plan, content and manage any vendors

5. International Materials Review Operations (“IMRO”) - Operational support service (part of GBS organization):

  • Managing Content Library & Components for Marketing, Medical and Other teams
  • Quality and Delivery Check, including Operational Reporting
  • Platform and Process Training
  • Supporting the Create, Review & Approval and Localization Process for Marketing, Medical and Other teams
  • Plan, Monitor & Manage Process
  • Portal Management, Progress tracking & Content readiness

Accountability Descriptions

1. Build, lead and manage a high-performing, diverse team through team meetings, one-on-ones and periodic strategy sessions to define pathway, monitor performance and identify risks and opportunities in the core functional areas. Generate process efficiencies through agile and continuous improvement mindset.

2. Stakeholder engagement and relationship management to ensure a good understanding of needs development, team & deliverables feedback, continuous improvement and strategy evolution.

3. Define and evolve the strategic model for the “content supply chain”, to drive efficiencies, increase reuse, increase agility and reduce time-to-customer. Lead the definition of standards and metrics to measure adherence and impact.

4. Establish and partner with International Material Review Operations service to ensure strategic alignment & evolution, KPI definition and delivery, governance and to generate process and operational efficiencies

5. Oversight and involvement in creative agency and platform vendor management to ensure governance and delivery for agreed KPIs and MSA, and generate process and investment efficiencies

6. Other ad-hoc tasks and projects, and general best-practice sharing


Qualifications

  • >10 years’ experience & proven success in areas like: Commercial Excellence, Marketing, Consulting at both Affiliate. Regional or Global experience is a requirement
  • Master degree in Life science, Business management or equivalent
  • Leadership attributes that support operational excellence and leading teams
  • Critical thinker and have the ability to set strategic direction for the diverse functions managed by this role
  • Strong understanding of the biopharma industry, content creative process and commercial elements
  • Skilled at building strategic work relationships at all levels (Administrative to regional VP-level)
  • Confident presenter and able to effectively communicate in a group format
  • Proficient use of Excel, PowerPoint, CRM systems, creative tools and Content Management Platforms (e.g. Veeva Vault)
  • Flexible, able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel (up to approximately 30%)
  • Must think creatively and work as a true business partner to move projects through completion
  • Drive benchmarking, best-practices, process improvements
  • Responds positively to direction and takes initiative in planning a timely course to project completion
