As a Service Design Engineer you are a member of Interxion's Operations department. You are responsible for providing technical advice to the sales team and supporting them with technical expertise. You will create holistic service solutions (design) for new and existing customers, obtain quotations from suppliers, create technical drawings in AutoCAD and submit the design to Service Transition (project management) for implementation. You will be responsible for the technical response to RFPs/RFIs, use your technical expertise to ensure that sufficient capacity is available in the data center (capacity management) and that the design meets customer and Interxion requirements and can be implemented within the agreed costs and SLAs.
Within this role, you will act as the pivot point between internal and external stakeholders such as sales, facility management, service transition, third party suppliers, DTEG and our customers.
Be responsible for internal capacity management (space, power & cooling) and provide a binding estimate of availability in the budget bidding phase
Provide comprehensive technical service solutions (design) for new and existing customers, Customer Order Forms (COF) and ensure that customer requirements and Interxion's specifications can be met on time, within agreed costs and SLAs.
Responsible for providing technical responses to RFI/RFPs within the required timelines.
Plan and coordinate the required resources and act as a key pivot point between internal and external stakeholders such as sales, facility management, service transition, third party suppliers and our customers to ensure that lead times and resources for solution implementation are feasible and that the design meets current and future business needs.
Ensure that the corporate design principles of standardization, power, cooling, and placement are followed and reflected in the designs.
Define the costs (OPEX/CAPEX) and/or suitable alternatives and the associated risks
Approve the technical design in the lead to contract phase and the associated reservations.
Creation of technical drawing in AutoCAD and maintenance of the building plans
Engineering Degree (FH, HF) or a comparable qualification
Working experience 3 – 5 years in data center or similar high technology environment
Specialized technical expertise (datacenter, telecommunications, IT or electrical)
Advanced AutoCAD Skills and Excellent MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Fluent in English (C1 or higher), both written and orally, and German native speaker
Self-starter, can work independently, shows initiative and proactivity
Confident behavior towards customers and cooperation partners (suppliers)
Strong sense of urgency and excellent organizational skills
Capability to work precisely and follow up on tasks
Excellent and effective and respectful communication (orally and written)
