ANYbotics develops the quadrupedal robot ANYmal to provide autonomous inspection in challenging environments such as industrial sites, power plants, and subterranean systems. ANYmal is equipped with powerful actuators, custom electronics, and state-of-the-art perception sensors to navigate through complex environments. We develop a full-stack robotics software framework with core locomotion and navigation algorithms, mapping and localization pipelines, mission setup and user interface tools.
We are looking for an experienced software engineer to join our system & applications team. Our team provides the glue between hardware, applications, and the user. We make our robots smarter, robuster and more user friendly and constantly come up with new ways to optimize the performance and skills of our robots. We closely collaborate with experts from locomotion, navigation and perception and implement, test, and support the software running on the robot on various levels including user and application interfaces. We hide the complexity of the robot by providing elegant interfaces to end-users and customer-specific applications.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Enhance autonomy and user friendliness of the robot
  • Develop and improve the teleoperation capabilities of the robot
  • Design and maintain an advanced graphical user interface for development
  • Integrate and test application-specific solutions
  • Consult with the different development teams on specifications and interfaces

Your profile

  • University degree in engineering or science with a focus on computer science or robotics (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate)
  • Experience in (graphical) user interface design / human-machine interaction, bonus: Qt experience
  • Competence in object-oriented programming in C++
  • Experience with ROS and Linux or web development
  • Expertise in designing and developing software for Linux
  • Commitment to implement, test and support high-quality, reliable and maintainable software
  • Capacity to understand new systems quickly and to grasp complex frameworks
  • Very good communication skills in English both verbally and in writing
  • Team player with willingness to review and document code
