Job Description

Working with the Senior Director, Commercial & Business Management within the Aircraft Operations and Safety (AOS) Services Team, this internship is a unique opportunity for a passionate intern to discover and participate to the Inmarsat business planning process that sets out the AOS growth objectives for the next 10 years.

During the internship, the successful candidate will support the generation and gathering of relevant market data from various internal and external sources, and automate the detailed AOS forecasting model.

This hands-on internship will require the close collaboration with the Aviation Finance team, the Market Intelligence unit, Product Management, Sales Operations and the AOS senior leadership team members. The candidate must therefore feel comfortable at working autonomously in a strongly integrated team.

The successful candidate will develop financial planning and analysis skills, and strong insights on a business at the crossroad of two of the most exciting industries today: Satellite Communications and Aviation. Without being an expert, the successful candidate is expected to be sufficiently proficient in data modelling and analysis, database management tools and systems and related programming languages and techniques.

Key Tasks:

  • Extract relevant aircraft and airline data from various sources
  • Model and analyse the market demand for AOS products and services
  • Support the development and automate the AOS forecasting model
  • Document the activity throughout the internship
  • Present results and conclusions


Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Great attention to detail with the ability to quickly spot trends or inconsistencies in data
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to develop models that can be easily understood
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines when required and in autonomy when needed
  • Ability to rapidly train using company tools and techniques (Tableau, Sales Force)
  • Programming skills to automate the production of reports using Excel or other in-house products
  • On-going studies at Master level with a preferred major in data science, data management, DBMS programming and languages, financial modelling and analysis
