DEPsys is an innovative, fast-growing Swiss high-tech company. We are driven by the passion for cleantech and energy management. The company currently employs close to 40 people and is headquartered in Puidoux, close to Lausanne (Switzerland). Our goal is to establish GridEye – our cutting-edge distribution grid intelligence platform – as the key solution enabling the energy transition through power grid evolution and stability in the low and medium voltage electricity networks. To help us achieve this objective and support our growth, we are looking for the best talent.

We are looking for an intern data scientist who will develop new predictive models for our GridEye product. This is an opportunity to discover a dynamic environment in an established start-up and participate in its expansion within the exciting green energy ecosystem.

Data Science Intern

Summary

The GridEye solution, developed by DEPsys, provides a scalable and efficient solution to respond to the new demands of electricity distribution grids. Working directly with the Business Analytics Director, you will help develop new insights on the energy management and operational trends of distribution grid operators. As part of a start-up company, your role will require your involvement over a wide area of the data analytics process, from engineering to model building to interpretation.

Mission / Responsibilities
  • Participate in the organization and structuring of data for analytics perspectives
  • Perform extensive data validation/quality assurance analysis within large datasets of power distribution
  • Find innovative solutions to known problems that will support and expand our core business
  • Build forecasting models for electricity management using industry indicators
  • Contribute to research and analysis across the electricity industry
  • Develop and maintain automated dashboards, metric reports, and data visualizations
  • Convey your work and results to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
Desired qualifications
  • Bachelor/Master degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or Statistics
  • A solid foundation in statistics, either demonstrated through academic study or work experience
  • Experience with at least two programming languages and one general-purpose statistical package or programming library
  • Familiarity with SQL databases, and web application programming
  • Experience with Git and continuous integration is a plus
