Philip Morris Duty Free Digital Marketing

The travel retail category is driving increasing demand for customer centric experiences. The Digital Marketing team at PMI Duty Free is focused on travelling adult smokers and their needs. We have an opportunity for a Data Analytics Strategy Manager to join Philip Morris Duty Free based at our Operations Centre in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The Role

You will be championing the adoption of a consumer centric mindset into PMI Duty Free. You will be responsible for designing and delivering a robust data insights platform, helping PMIDF become a truly data driven organization.

You will be responsible for:


Understanding drivers, pain points, barriers and hypotheses that tap on new business opportunities and anticipate threats to the business. Identifying data sources (own and from third parties), building a logic to actionable insights and creating enablers to embed the learnings into the organization.

Working with Management team to prioritize business and information needs.

Data Analysis & Insights Sharing:

  • Identifying and interpreting trends and patterns in data sets from 1st and 3rd party data sources based on business problems and opportunities.
  • Leveraging general reports and dashboards provided by PMI’s HQ to track progress towards specified business goals and local tactical activities.
  • Combining consumer analytics and findings across various data sources to surface insights and opportunities.
  • Monitoring performance and feedback on owned assets (incl. Apps) and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Visualizing findings, formulating actionable insights and communicating them to Management.
  • Running testing of hypotheses (e.g., AB testing). Identifying and proposing relevant KPIs to drive business decision making and tracking.
  • Sharing key findings with relevant stakeholders.

Data Advocacy & Governance:

  • On-boarding organization on data principles and ensuring overall data governance within HQ Digital team.
  • Boosting data-driven culture by explaining and demonstrating the benefits of data driven decisions.
  • Ensuring best practices and HQ guidelines are applied.

About you

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Experience with common analytical processes such as digital analytics, market analytics, market research and sales reporting.
  • Proven expertise in digital analytics (e.g., benchmarking, hypothesis AB testing) and reporting and data visualization tools (e.g., Stratifyd, Tableau).
  • Proficiency with SQL, Python andor R.
  • Proficiency with performance measurement and Social Media management tools or social analytics tools (e.g., Sprinklr).
  • Experience with testing and conversion rate optimization tools, such as Optimizely is preferred.
  • Experience with JIRA and Agile methodologies.
  • Articulate with the ability to translate data into a narrative for a broad audience.
  • Detail oriented but able to see the big picture.
  • Proven experience in Market Research, Web Digital Social Media Analysis, Computer Science, Data Management or related field.
  • University degree in Statistics, Economics, Business or related field.


  • Fluent written and spoken English is essential.
  • This is a full time role based at our offices at Lausanne, Switzerland.
