Job Description

We are looking to hire a Data Scientist Market Research to be a part of our Commercial Department for Philip Morris International Management S.A., and based in our global headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.

In collaboration with the Director Market Research Analytics and Manager Market Research Analytics, you will be responsible for assisting in global analytics projects using internal data mining / processing platforms as well as using machine learning approaches for predictive and prescriptive modeling.

You will make use of reporting platforms like Tableau to create dashboards as well as support the Analytics team to answer senior management queries.

By working on predictive analytics for our markets, you will be able to have a real impact on the commercial strategy of the company, create and improve data science models, compare your predicted results with real-life results and be in touch with the stakeholder and engage with the business.

Key responsibilities:

Support the Manager Market Research Analytics in performing day-to-day analytics, which include the below key areas:

  • Global consumer tracking reporting and analytics platform management – this would include liaising with external vendors as well as with internal stakeholders, analyzing regional and global trends, connecting the tracking data with other data sources (e.g. Brand Equity data, volumes data) etc.
  • Using machine learning algorithms to develop models that help answer ever changing business needs – this includes developing predictive models (at times in liaison with our data science teams) as well as finding relevant patterns and connections in existing data
  • Connecting dots using Global Tracking data, Retail Audit data and In-market- sales data
    • Assist the teams with analytics support during the annual development of global commercial strategy

Required skills:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree (preferably) in Data Science / Statistics
  • Proficient in modeling using machine learning algorithms in R/ Python environment.
  • At least 5 years working in a client side / agency side (business analytics solutions) environment. It is highly preferred that you should have worked on at least a few Big Data analytics projects and have a solid understanding of structured and unstructured data coming from market research surveys (quantitative and qualitative) as well as from other internal sources (e.g. CRM)
  • Proficient in use of reporting tools including but not limited to Tableau
  • Should have handled large-scale databases. Experience in migration of traditionally stored data in a scattered manner to a consolidated Data Ocean / lake would be an added advantage
  • Fluent spoken and written English a must.
