What it's about

The Business Applications Group is closely aligned with the business teams and responsible for the key applications to administrate, monitor and analyze Partners Group’s investment programs. It takes care of the development, customization and on-going enhancement of these applications to best support the global business operations of Partners Group. The data engineer focuses on database design, data architecture, and analysis of database performance as well as support the business analysts and developers to improve the entire Partners Group business application landscape.


  • Drive the data architecture of our firm (master data sources, data stack separation)
  • Ongoing analysis, development and improvement of database architecture and dependent processes
  • Ownership of data models and data sets for the core business applications
  • Working closely together with application developers to help ensure implementation of best-practices in SQL programming and technical documentation
  • Propose strategic data approaches to drive the business applications platform further within our firm

What we expect

  • Proven advanced abilities in data architecture and working with complex data structures
  • 10+ years of experience in MS SQL enterprise environments
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge in and experience with relational databases and querying (TSQL)
  • Highly analytical with skills to be able to analyze and work with large datasets
  • Experience coordinating with business users and developers to solve data and process issues with entrepreneurial mindset to constantly improve the status quo
  • Proven track record in automation of complex processes
  • Capability to extract value from historic and broadly distributed datasets
  • Design and build processes supporting data transformation, data structures and metadata
  • Excellent communicator with a team-oriented approach
  • Strong project management and personal organization skills
  • Agile or similar development methodology experience
  • Solid academic record and a Bachelor/Master degree with emphasis in technology (e.g. Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, etc.)

Not required but a plus

  • Financial industry experience
  • Experience with cloud services (i.e. AWS or Azure)
  • Knowledge of object-oriented/object function scripting languages like Python and Java
