Job Description

The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland (HTA-FR) is a member of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland (HES-SO) and offers bilingual Bachelor's and Master's degree programs.
In HTA-FR's practice-oriented engineering programs, students acquire not only specialized knowledge but also the necessary foundations in mathematics, statistics, and physics. – The iCoSys Institute, in collaboration with regional businesses, develops innovative projects in the field of AI and complex systems, drawing on data science and mathematical modeling.

Tasks and areas of responsibility

  • Teaching at the Bachelor's and Master's level as well as in continuing education in the field of mathematics and statistics
  • Supervision of student projects
  • Acquisition of projects and establishment of applied research activities at the iCoSys Institute
  • Representation of the university in relevant professional and scientific networks

Your profile

  • PhD in Mathematics or Statistics or equivalent qualification
  • Extensive professional experience in the fields of data science and machine learning, as well as in the application of statistical methods for problem solving.
  • Excellent teaching skills; strong interest in and enjoyment of teaching and supervising students
  • Experience in acquiring, implementing and valorizing externally funded applied research projects
  • Good communication skills and team spirit
  • Fluency in German or French with good knowledge of the other language, as well as very good English skills.
