  • As a Data Engineer, you are at the heart of our data-driven strategy and play a crucial role in shaping our data landscape.
  • Development of an innovative data platform: Development and operation of our cloud-based self-service data platform, which enables product teams to create data products within a data mesh framework.
  • Dynamic Data Pipelines: Develop blueprints for versatile data pipelines for ingesting and transforming data, so software development teams across the organization can create their own pipelines.
  • Seamless data integration: Create connections to operational data through databases and message queues to ensure smooth data flow.
  • Comprehensive data discovery: Facilitate enterprise-wide data access by implementing a robust data catalog tool.
  • Efficient data publishing: Set up simple publishing mechanisms and ensure reliable data transfer across the organization.
  • Quality assurance and monitoring: Development and maintenance of tools to ensure data quality and real-time monitoring.
  • Advisory collaboration: Work as a consultant in teams to support engineers in developing their own data products.
  • Data infrastructure and architecture:
  • Decentralized data sharing: Advocate for a data architecture that encourages decentralized data sharing across cross-functional teams and offer best practices and advisory support.
  • Scalable data platform: Work with the DevOps team to build and operate a scalable data platform with a powerful query engine for large cross-domain operations.
  • Versatile infrastructure: Develop a comprehensive data infrastructure that spans both on-premises and cloud environments.

  • Continuous improvement: Monitor, analyze, and optimize the performance, security, and reliability of our data infrastructure.

This is what you bring with you

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in data engineering, software engineering or related fields.
  • Proven experience in building data platforms, data lake houses and data warehouses.
  • Experience in developing data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL (Java, JavaScript is a plus).
  • Familiarity with data products from Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure (GCP experience is a plus).
  • Solid understanding of data technologies and concepts such as data mesh, lambda architectures, and lakehouse architectures.
  • Experience in agile environments, using methods such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
  • Passion for technological innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in German and English for effective communication.
  • Active engagement in the data community and contributions to open source projects.
