We are an innovative startup in the pet insurance sector based in Switzerland. Our goal is to make data-driven decisions, automate processes, and create real added value for our customers through AI-supported models. Whether in risk assessment, optimal customer engagement, fraud detection, or the optimization of claims and customer service processes – data science and machine learning are an important part of our digital strategy. That's why we are looking for a data scientist to help us develop innovative AI and analytics solutions and further develop our company through data-driven insights.
 
Tasks
About you
  • You are passionate about data science, AI and machine learning and want to create real added value with modern technologies.
  • You have a deep analytical understanding and can develop complex data models that solve business challenges.
  • You are proficient in applying predictive analytics and statistical models to enable informed predictions and data-based decisions.
  • You enjoy working with new machine learning methods and algorithms and keeping up to date with current developments in AI research.
  • Not only do you have the technical know-how, but you can also communicate the results of your analyses in a way that is understandable to the business.
  • Ideally, you have already gained some experience in the insurance or finance industry – if not, you are motivated to familiarize yourself with this domain.
  • Your place of residence is in Switzerland.
Your tasks
  • You develop AI and machine learning models to optimize our products and processes (e.g., damage forecasts, risk assessment, optimal customer communication, product recommendations, fraud detection, pricing models).
  • You build predictive analytics pipelines and use modern modeling methods to promote data-driven decisions across the entire company.
  • You train and evaluate deep learning and machine learning models, optimize their performance, and bring them into production.
  • You will work closely with our CTO and business teams to understand requirements and develop data-driven solutions.
  • You prepare large amounts of structured and unstructured data, conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA), and develop automated feature engineering processes.
  • You implement ML Ops processes to efficiently manage, monitor, and improve models in a production environment.
  • You will be responsible for optimizing data quality and data governance to ensure that our models are based on solid foundations.
  • You will work with external data science and AI providers to integrate best practices and further develop our AI strategy.
  • You bring your knowledge of new developments in machine learning and AI to the team and drive innovation.
Qualification
What you bring with you
  • Experience in developing machine learning and AI models, particularly in the areas of supervised learning, unsupervised learning, NLP or deep learning.
  • A university degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, a natural science, economics, etc.
  • Very good knowledge of Python (e.g. Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) or R.
  • Experience with predictive analytics, statistical modeling and data engineering.
  • Knowledge of databases (SQL, NoSQL) and distributed data processing systems.
  • Ideally, experience with big data technologies (Spark, Dask, Hadoop) or cloud ML platforms (AWS Sagemaker, Google Vertex AI, Azure ML).
  • Experience with ML Ops and deployment of machine learning models.
  • Good knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn).
  • Ideally, some experience in the insurance industry or with financial data is required, but not essential.
  • Very good communication skills in German and English.
