Job Description

The Office for Waste, Water, Energy and Air is committed to a healthy, safe, and attractive environment in the Canton of Zurich. The Processes, IT and Coordination section is responsible, among other things, for the implementation of the canton's IT and digitalization strategy, information security, and the coordination of strategic official business. To strengthen our three-person team, we are seeking a dedicated Data Manager (by arrangement) .
 
In this role, you will develop and sustainably establish a data management system for Open Government Data (OGD) and internal data within the AWEL. You will implement the specifications of the cantonal strategic data initiative within the AWEL and develop queries and data analyses. You will also collect and structure the office's own data in a data catalog (DCAT, partly INTERLIS) and assume tasks in the areas of data engineering and data science. Data protection and access management will also be part of your responsibilities. Furthermore, you will advise and support management and the specialist departments in data storage and use and model data to optimize business processes within the office.
 
In addition to these tasks, you will also take on other activities as needed, for example, in the area of ​​information security or in application development projects. You have a degree in computer science, business informatics, or a related discipline and have extensive knowledge of data management . You also have practical programming experience, ideally in Python or Power BI. Your working style is analytical, structured, and solution-oriented. You are characterized by a strong hands-on mentality and have fluent written and spoken German.
