The USZ is looking for a motivated DevOps Engineer / Platform Engineer to build, operate and further develop the strategic platforms (especially the data platform and integration platform) with current technologies and methodologies. In this versatile and responsible role, you will take on an important role in strategic projects. You will be part of a larger engineering team that works on providing extensive skills as well as complex data products and data services, thus enabling a variety of needs for new, data-driven applications in clinical care, research and hospital management. With your commitment, you will make an important contribution to the successful digital transformation of the USZ.
your main tasks
- Conception, implementation, further development, operation and documentation of the various platforms
- Identification of new useful technology components: implementation of PoCs/pilots, making implementation decisions
- Building and operating platform components and capabilities e.g. with Kubernetes, Apache Stack (Kafka, Spark, etc.), S3, Trino / Starburst, Mulesoft, observability stacks and other technologies
- Responsibility for the toolset of the various layers of the platforms (Container Platform, Ingestion Layer, Repositories, Integration Platform, Analytics Toolkits, Visualization Layer...)
- Collaboration with the various engineering teams in conceptual design, development, maintenance and extensions
- Guidance and assumption of technical responsibility in projects and sub-projects
your profile
- University or technical college degree in computer science, business informatics, medical informatics or a comparable, higher IT education
- Experience with agile methodologies, DevOps expertise
- Experience in the conception, implementation and operation of on-premise and/or cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and complex data-driven solutions, including container platforms (Kubernetes)
- Advanced knowledge of storage, virtualization, containerization and network/software architectures
- Very good knowledge of German and English
- High sense of responsibility for data and data protection in a sensitive environment
